Methods, data, analyses (formerly: Methoden, Daten, Analysen) was founded in 2007 and published mixed in German and English. In 2014 methods, data, analyses was completely converted to English. The first editor-in-chief was Christof Wolf, until Henning Best took over the role in 2013 and passed it on to Annelies G. Blom in 2016. In 2019 Melanie Revilla took over the role of the editor-in-chief. Since 2007 gesis - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences has been the publisher of mda.
